Department of Social Sciences Being the science of “change”, Social Sciences aim to ensure that the students are able to adapt to the various aspects of social progress. It is believed that Social Sciences constitute one of the most significant factors in developing into an information society. Basically branching out in two major fields, History and Geography, the scope of the Department of Social Sciences also covers the basics of the Environmental Studies, Civics, and Citizenship. As per the vision of the Department of Social Sciences, Pak Turk students are to become effective in terms of personality development, human relations, economic efficiency, civic responsibility, and change and dealing with life, combine independent thinking, an inquiring mind and tolerance. |
Geography Pak Turk Educational Institutions, along with theoretical information, give special importance to enhancing the practical skills of students through map-reading, consulting printed, computerized and on-line sources such as maps, atlases, statistics and coursebooks. Students are also initiated to the basics of the Geographical Information Systems (GIS) through novice software such as Google Earth, Microsoft Encarta World Atlas and Microsoft MapPoint which collect, save, analyse and display geographical data and ensure effectiveness in problem solving. Making use of the computers and the Internet, students study geography with a perspective that can enable them to develop various solutions to the problems of Pakistan and the contemporary world. The regular field trips and miscellaneous projects implemented on current topics help our students to discern the applied side of the science of geography. |

History On behalf of teaching History to students, Pak Turk Educational Institutions put special emphasis on the knowledge obtained through comparative studies, presentations and various project works. Students are coached to explain our day and modern life based on the past by interpreting, analyzing and synthesizing past events, develop studying and learning skills, problem-solving and decision-making skills, group work and citizenship skills as well as develop awareness on history-environment-nature-culture relationship. In the light of their learning, students shall be able to recognize the development of political and social events within historical processes, in certain places and within the social pattern that is formed according to these processes and places, keep track of current developments regarding their local culture, politics and social events as well as international cultural events and politics and shall keep track of current developments through a selective choice of daily newspapers and media in order to be able to make sound and objective comments on such developments. |
