Department of Turkish Language and Literature
Being taught as the language that bridges Pakistan and Turkey on a common cultural and linguistic framework, Turkish has a large scope in the philosophy of the Pak Turk Educational Institutions. Department of Turkish Language and Literature in Pak Turk Educational Institutions has the following objectives:
- teaching Turkish from starter to advanced level through graded materials,
- developing students’ knowledge and insight on the common linguistic heritage between Urdu and Turkish,
- developing students’ knowledge on renowned Turkish writers and of world literature translated into Turkish, preparing students for the DILSET International Turkish Language Olympiads through intensive and extensive study programs, graded printed, visual and online materials,
- providing the groundwork for students’ to read a number of works per year from Turkish literature written in different genres,
- initiating and supervising written translation works from Urdu to Turkish and Turkish to Urdu for cultural exchange,
- providing the groundwork for students to be aware of the programs related to Turkish Language and Literature broadcasted on television, radio or the Internet,
- providing the groundwork for students to be aware of the literature magazines and to develop the habit of reading at least one daily newspaper in Turkish, providing the groundwork for students to take care to use language properly, correctly and fluently in everyday life.
