Designed to bridge people from all over the world on the common denominator of spoken and written Turkish, DILSET Turkish Language Olympiads has become outstanding contribution to the unity, love and peaceful understanding among world countries. The International Turkish Olympics, realized for the fifth time by the International Language Education Association has staged colorful shows during the 10-day period. The event has hosted 500 students from 100 countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, the US, the UK, Papua and New Guinea, Vietnam, Brazil and Tanzania. The students has competed in several areas; poems, songs, story-writing, presentations and basic knowledge of Turkish. There were 17 countries involved in the first Turkish Olympics, 24 at the second, 41 at the third and 83 at the fourth. The competition part of the fifth International Turkish Language Olympics was held from May 24 to June 3 in Ankara and Istanbul. In the 4th International Dilset Turkish Olympiad (10-17 June 2006), Pakistan was represented by the Pak-Turk International Schools & Colleges in the categories of language competency, poetry, song and cultural presentation among 355 contestants from 84 countries. Hafiz Mubashir of Pak-Turk Schools Lahore Branch was awarded the Gold Medal in the Written Language Competency category. Javaira Khan of Islamabad Girls Section was awarded the Honorary Mention Award in Cultural Presentation category.
