HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT OF PAKISTAN TO PAK-TURK ICEF:
“THIS NATION WILL NEVER FORGET YOUR SERVICES.”
Pak Turk ICEF rose to the challenge of the 8 October 2005 earthquake by
its team of educationists and volunteers and became one of the first
non-governmental organizations to reach the earthquake-affected regions
of Pakistan. Commencing humanitarian relief and rehabilitation in terms
of providing medical support through field doctors and ambulances, Pak
Turk ICEF also delivered relief materials to the affecters in person.
The four different tent villages that Pak Turk ICEF erected in
Islamabad, Muzaffarabad and its vicinity accommodated about 10,000
people in winter-proof, custom-built tents. Humanitarian aid programs
that comprised field kitchens that catered for 8000 people’s daily lunch
and dinner alongside the field medical services rendered by the Pak Turk
ICEF Turkish Clinic’s senior doctor Dr Mehmet Sari treated thousands of
people who were traumatized by the quake experience.
Pak Turk ICEF’s selfless services in the wake of the earthquake found a
companion in Turkey within the form of Kimse Yok Mu Solidarity and Aid
Association, an international Turkish NGO which initiated nationwide
campaigns meant for generating funds for the aid of Pakistani earthquake
affectees. As per their expertise in education, Kimse Yok Mu and Pak
Turk ICEF constructed 10 state-of-the-art prefabricated school buildings
in place of the destroyed ones in Muzaffarabad, Balakot, Hassari and
Mansehra, and conferred them to the Provincial Ministries of Education
in NWFP and AJK. Following these selfless services, Pak Turk ICEF was
awarded the Sitara-e-Eisaar, President of Pakistan’s Public Award for
Altruism and Sacrifice.

experience along with the affecters, we mobilized our all resources to
meet the needs of the affecters and organized various programs to keep
the Turkish and Pakistani public opinion considerate about the plight of
their brothers and sisters. The administrative and teaching staff along
with students and parents of our schools across Pakistan served
selflessly to alleviate the suffering of the affecters in a considerable
extent. We are highly grateful to have been found worthy of receiving
this award from His Excellency President of Pakistan.”

hostel accommodation to more than 200 students from the
earthquake-affected regions of NWFP and AJK in Islamabad and Peshawar
campuses.
