Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Visited the PakTurk Lahore Campus

His Excellency Mr. Bekir Bozdağ, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey visited the PakTurk Lahore Boys Campus on February 11, 2013.

Mr. Bozdağ was welcomed with a delegation of students who presented him bouquets and greeted him in Turkish. Having taken a round of the school building and meeting with the teachers and administrators, H.E. Turkish Deputy PM proceeded to preside over the function organized in his honour by the students in the School Auditorium.

Mr. Bekir Bozdağ was elated to converse with students who spoke Turkish fluently. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bozdağ stated, “PakTurk educational institutions are the representatives of the people of Turkey in Pakistan by bridging the two countries through the unifying discourse of education, time-tested friendship and alliance as well as with unconditional love and sincerity.”

PAKTURK School shines in 10th DAWN International Education Expo 2013

Hundreds of students as well as parents visited the 10th International DAWN Education Expo 2013 held at the Expo Centre, Johar Town Lahore. Leading educational institutions from Pakistan and across the world participated in the expo. PAKTURK International Schools and Colleges Lahore, with its biggest stall and wonderful things to display caught the attention of all the visitors. Students from different classes of PAKTURK International Schools and College exhibited their talent in the shape of various Science and Math’s’ projects. Student’s projects like blood test, sound energy, impossible knot and fire in water saw a large number of visitors. Students of PAKTURK International Schools and Colleges Girls’ Campus were also in the forefront in these projects.

A large number of people from different walks of life visited these stalls and appreciated the efforts of students. These hardworking students had been preparing for these projects for weeks under the guidance of their dedicated teachers; their hard work paid off when the visitors lauded their efforts. Visitors were also provided information for the admission in PAKTURK School. PAKTURK International Schools and College is offering 100 % scholarship to intelligent students. Most of the visitors showed a keen interest in getting admission. The visiting parents were of the view that such expos should continue so that students are able to display their talents in future as well

LAHORE MAIN CAMPUS HOLDS INDUCTION WORKSHOPS

PakTurk Lahore Main Campus held an induction workshop for the newly inducted primary school teachers to the PakTurk educational institutions in Lahore. Supervised by Ms Naureen Khalid, Vice Principal (Junior Branch), the induction course covered in the workshop aimed to introduce the PakTurk educational system to the new teachers and to contribute to their continuous professional development which would substantially affect the learning of the PakTurk Junior Section students in the city.

Divided into four segments to be delivered on each Saturday during a month, the Induction Workshop also aimed to initiate for opportunities of knowledge and experience sharing and networking as teachers.

In the Week 1, the plenary session themed on “Lesson Planning” saw the participation of the entire teaching faculty of the Junior Section, 16 (present and newly-inducted) teachers. Highlighting the dynamics of effective lesson planning as a reflection of real-time instruction and learning in the classroom, this session stressed on the use of clear and feasible objectives to bring about desired learning. Teachers were recommended to utilize ICT resources to enhance their teaching and learning outcomes.

The following session themed as “Getting Off to A Good Start” was exclusively for the five newly-inducted teachers. The session dwelt on a spectrum of topics helpful for their first days in new classes such as setting classroom rules, using classroom language effectively, maintaining eye-contact, managing time and resources, resourcefulness, icebreakers, teacher-student and student-student interactions.

In the Week 2, the opening session was themed on “Effective Classroom Management” to maintain a positive and productive learning environment. Stating various issues on classroom management, Ms Naureen Khalid shared her experiences and referred to the qualities of an ideal teacher as being organized, being resourceful and being proactive for emerging challenges and tasks. The participants learned how ‘extension works’ could be used tackle with early finishers and how effective time management, setting rules and classroom instructions facilitate a teacher’s work. Ms Khalid summed up the session with the adage, “If you don’t have a plan, you are planning to fail.”

The second session was themed around the “Advantages of Project Based Learning” which emphasized seven elements of project based learning and that collaboration is an important factor of PBL. Comparing the traditional learning with project based learning, the participants were given a number of class tasks requiring them to work in groups and exercise collaboration to bridge information gaps.

Recapping the previous day’s content, the participants were assigned to write a lesson plan according to PBL.

The participants attended workshops on “Formative and Summative Assessments in the Classroom” and “Guidelines for Setting a Good Exam Paper” in the Week 3 and “The Teacher as a Role Model” and “Importance of Reflection in Learning and Professional Development” in the Week 4 of the Induction Workshops.

LAHORE A LEVEL STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN ORIENTATION SEMINAR

Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) arranged an orientation seminar regarding Chartered Accountancy on January 17, 2013 for the A-Level students of PakTurk Lahore at the ICAP House Lahore. Accompanied by their teacher Mr. Rana Irfan Mahmood, the students attended presentations given by the qualified chartered accountants.

The seminar was full of information regarding the professional level studies in Accountancy as well as the entry requirements in CA, paper exemption for A-Level students, time period required for CA and job prospects after CA.

Terming the seminar experience as very informative and guiding with respect to aid them in their career decisions, the students voiced their keen interest to start CA after the completion of their A-Levels.

3RD EYE ART EXHIBITION AND FUNFAIR AT LAHORE ISLAMPURA

On Saturday December 22, 2012 a marvelous and colourful exhibition was held in PakTurk Islampura Branch. It was surely aimed and intended under the topic of “OUR CULTURE, OUR IDENTITY”. 3rd Eye Projects were prepared by the students of class 2, 3, 4 and 5 under the supervision of their teachers and some projects were prepared by them at their homes with the help of their parents. They showed their love & affection for their country through their projects. They tried to highlight the major issues and problems of their allocated provinces (different classes were given different provinces) and gave some hidden massages through their projects. They were a blend of their deep thought & aesthetic sense. They also made Art Projects with great enthusiasm and care. They were really showing their hidden talent and the training of their teachers. Finally they also prepared some musical folk items related to different provinces which gave an attractive and colourful touch to the program.

Stalls of funfair and a Puppet Show was also the part of program. It was kept in mind that the Puppet Show should have some moral for the children while writing the script. PakTurk Islampura Branch teachers wrote the script, gave music and acted themselves in the Puppet Show. For the amusement of the visitors, swings were also arranged. Program started at 9:00am and ended at 4:00pm. The main stage performances started at 11:00am after the arrival of the Chief Guest Mr. Sadi YILDIRIR, Guest of Honour Mr. Sadullah BAYAZIT and Mr. Abdul Gani GÜLMEZ. The Principal Mr. Mehmet Ali ŞEKER said welcome to all guests and students, in different folk dresses, presented flowers to them. At the end shields were given to Mutti ur Rehman who got 1st position in GAT and to Javeria Masood who got 3rd position in GAT. Mr. Mehmet Ali ŞEKER also gave shields to the honorable guests.
