ALL SCIENCE … NO FICTION: PAKTURK CONQUERED AGAIN

 

Two students from PakTurk International Schools & Colleges were awarded as Grand Winners at the Fifth Intel National Science Olympiad (2009) finals held in Islamabad; thus are about to compete for Pakistan at the 2009 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair to be held in Nevada, USA.

Organised by Intel Education Initiative in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, Pakistan, 2009 Intel NSO was the scene of competition among thousands of students. A total of 250 projects were found worthy of competing in the national finals. 121 finalist projects were exhibited subsequent to having been meticulously inspected by an eminent jury. PakTurk’s Malik Usama Awan and Salahuddin Khan topped their categories as Grand Winners and qualified to represent Pakistan at the 2009 Intel ISEF in USA.

Held in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Education since 2004, Intel National Science Olympiad aims at encouraging secondary high students (Class 9-12) to take initiative in finding solutions to the challenges faced locally and globally by means of scientific knowledge and inventive insight.

23 out of 121 finalist projects were of PakTurk students. Salahuddin Khan of PakTurk Peshawar Branch got awarded as Grand Winner in Chemistry category with his project ‘Ocean is Precious’ as Malik Usama Awan of PakTurk Khairpur Branch got awarded as Grand Winner in Biology category with his project ‘Effect of Mixed Culture’, both paving the path towards the 2009 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, to represent Pakistan in Nevada USA on 12 March 2009.

Regarded as one of the largest scientific convenes worldwide, Intel ISEF is the global convention of 1200 students from 40 countries, seeking innovative and positive scientific solutions to global problems. Intel ISEF distributes more than 900 awards amounting to 3 million USD in total.

Highlighted by the New York Times through a comprehensive report on education as a frontrunner non-governmental educational initiative in Pakistan, PakTurk International Schools & Colleges has been under the limelight since their establishment in 1995. Running under the auspices of the PakTurk ICEF, PakTurk educational institutions, in seven cities of Pakistan, provide quality education from Pre School to College Level to young generations of Pakistan for a better country and nation in the making.

In reciprocation and recognition of its selfless services to the people and country of Pakistan in the fields of education and social welfare since 1995, His Excellency President of Pakistan conferred the prestigious civil award “Sitara-e-Eisaar” to PakTurk ICEF on 30 June 2006.
