Respected School Administrators and Dear Math Teachers,
We would like to brief you about our fascinating logic-related activity meant for students across Quetta. As you may appreciate, Math - being a systematic problem solving tool - can easily be called as the foundation of all school subjects, and everything in the universe has a mathematical algorithm behind it. For students, it can be the most frightening nightmare, or a challenging puzzle and even a thrilling game if one likes it.
As PAKTURK International Schools & Colleges Quetta Branch, our purpose is to make Math an entertainment and joy for all participants. We would like to raise awareness for Math in the society at length and keep it alive with a number of intramural and extracurricular activities just like the PakTurk ISMO 2009.
PakTurk ISMO will be conducted in the form of a written exam for the students of Class 5 and 8. Participants will compete independently. PakTurk ISMO is a purely Math examination, set in English and Urdu. There will be 30 MCQ (Multiple Choice) questions in total. The exam lasts for two hours. Assessment of the PakTurk ISMO will be done by the Maths teachers at the Pakturk International Schools & Colleges teachers under the supervision of the Head of Maths Department.
The first three position-holders from Class 5 and 8 will be awarded with cash prizes as follows:
First Position : Rs. 10,000/-
Second Position : Rs. 7,000/-
Third Position : Rs. 4,000/-
Furthermore, all the participants will be given certificates of participation and first division position holders will receive certificates of achievement.
Please find attached a set of sample questions to give teachers and students an idea on the pattern of questions.
Please note that unregistered students cannot join the PakTurk ISMO. Registration is a breeze: A registration-cum-stationery fee of Rs.100/- will be charged from each candidate and there will not be any additional or hidden charges. Registrations are open at PakTurk School Campuse.
Students have to bring along the following items for registration:
1. A nomination certificate from their current school, on which student's name, his / her father's name, class and date / place of birth information are clearly mentioned.
2. Two passport size photographs.
3. Registration-cum-stationery fee of Rs. 100/-
In case of providing incorrect information on the abovementioned details, participant students will not be given any certificate or award even if they secure positions. Moreover, official action will be taken against those who provide such false information.
