A very exciting and lively 'Urdu Week' was observed at PakTurk Intl. Schools and Colleges Islamabad last week. During this fun filled week all kinds of activities-educational and recreational were conducted. The credit of organizing this event mainly goes to Mr. Hasnain Nazish, the Head of Department for Urdu and Mr. Shakeel Ahmed, the Urdu teacher, who came up with bright ideas which made this occasion enjoyable. But it was not a one man show at all the credit goes to all the members of the college staff , even for the little drops they contributed for making this event a success.
The week was started with a brief speech given by Mr. Hasnain Nazish about the evolution of Urdu Language where he delivered a valuable description on the different dialects and the phases of developments of Urdu language in the sub-continent. On the same day all teachers, administration staff and the workers of the Alma Mater wore a badge regarding the Urdu Week Celebration.
The students from all the senior classes were encouraged to participate in all activities such as essay writing, letter writing competitions, web site publishing, debate and speech competition, Bait Baazi, calligraphy, painting, Soft Board decoration competition and presentation making on computer.
All these activities primarily aimed to enhance the language skills of the students' along with computer skills. Beside this, there were smaller but more thrilling activities like sentence making and guessing the meaning of words and idioms. Altogether it was a really first-class, well-organized event which was widely applauded by the students.
Such activities should often be organized as they uplift students' intellectual and creative abilities.
