The first selection round for All-Pakistan Dilset Turkish Language Olympiad was held at the National Library of Pakistan Auditorium on 21 January 2007 in Islamabad. The round was held to shortlist Pak Turk students to compete at the 5th International Dilset Turkish Language Olympiad to be held among 100 world countries in Istanbul during June 2007. On 20 January 2007, students hailing from 14 branches of Pak Turk International Schools across Pakistan were put to a rigorous selection procedure that comprised the components of Written Test, Spoken Test/Interview, Poetry Recitation and Song Contest. A total of 10 students were shortlisted to compete for the First Round at the National Library of Pakistan. 21 January 2007 saw a very ardous competition among
finalists. A prime jury of Turkish-speaking Pakistani citizens and
Turkish citizens based in Pakistan had a tough time selecting the best
among a variety of skilfully recited poems, beautifully rendered songs
and fluent speeches. At the end of the day, in the Poetry Recitation Category Maham Fatima of Islamabad Girls Section secured the First Position; Afzal Baig of Islamabad Boys Section secured the Second Position and Hareem Gillani of Islamabad Girls Section secured the Third Position. In Song Category, Shees Syed of Islamabad Boys Section secured the First Position, Ishfaq Khan of Peshawar Boys Section secured the Second Position and Hanna Wasim of Karachi Girls Section secured the Third Position. Interview or Spoken Test was the core category of the Selection Round. This category had three components: Basic Level 1-2-3. Farhan Kamal of Peshawar Boys Section topped at the Basic Level 1. Shoaib Nargo of Khairpur Boys Section came first at the Basic Level 2 and Awais Syed of Peshawar Boys Section topped the Basic Level 3 category. The Second Round for All-Pakistan Final Selection for Dilset Turkish Language Olympiad will be held in April 2007 in Islamabad. The finalists of that round will have the right to represent Pakistan at the 5th International Dilset Turkish Language Olympiad in Istanbul, Turkey in June 2007. |
